SEASONAL VARIATIONS IN GROUND WATER QUALITY IN UPPER PART OF PATAN BLOCK, DURG DISTRICT, CHHATTISGARH

摘要

The present study reports that the quality of ground water is affected by various factors like temperature, climate, infiltration rate, presence of pollutants in the soil and surface water-bodies, their types and nature. Various water samples from hand pumps, dug wells, dug-cum-bore wells and tube wells were collected and analysed chemically. The chemical quality was compared with the water quality standards laid by WHO, IS and ICMR. From the investigation, it was found that various parameters exceeded the permissible limits, in different ground water sources. It indicates that there is a need by municipal corporation and State/Central government authorities to take some concrete steps in future for better health of villagers residing in the area.
