3 Having passed opposition on April 28-when it was on the opposite side of Earth from the Sun-Saturn shines for most of the night. Low in the east-southeast as darkness falls, it is well above the southern horizon during the middle of the night, and sets in the west-southwest around sunrise. Through a telescope the north face of the ring system is seen tilted 17.5 degrees toward us. Titan, Saturn's brightest moon, can be seen near its greatest eastern elongation (four ring lengths, or diameters, from the rings' edge) tonight and again on the 19th, and farthest west on the 11th and 27th.
