Finnish unions and community groups are lobbying for a smoke-free Finland by 2040. In a letter to the Finnish Prime Minister, Matti Vanhanen, unions and community groups have urged the Finnish Government to implement resolutions that would:rn1. support families in bringing up a smoke-freerngeneration, 2. strengthen quit smoking initiatives, and 3. tackle the social inequality of smoking. Signatories to the letter said 6,000 people die from smoking-related diseases each year in Finland, with half of these people of working age.
