Data used in the preparation of material safety data sheets (MSDS) is unlikely to provide sufficient safety information on nanoparticles, reveals a new study.rnSafe Work Australia (SWA) study, 'An Evaluation of MSDS and Labels associated with the use of Engineered Nanomaterials' (June 2010) evaluated 50 MSDS and 15 labels of products containing engineered nanomaterials (ENM). "Most of the MSDS evaluated (84 per cent) did not provide adequate and accurate information sufficient to inform an occupational risk assessment for nanomaterial contained in the product," the study said.
