Federal Workplace Relations Minister Bill Shorten recently said it wasn't the "systems or the fancy talk about culture that will save people's lives"; rather, it was about nurturing a "sustainable sense of intolerance" to small daily risks and "searching for daily solutions to small daily risks".His comments remind us that the heart of safety is pervasive and safety should be integrated into each and every management decision and job so that problems are stopped in their tracks when they pose the smallest risk and/or don't even get a chance to start.
