Laws governing the integrity of offshore oil and gas wells are under review. The proposed changes are part of a review of Part 5 of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2011. Among the proposed changes is the insertion of a new object to ensure the laws apply to wells. The proposed object states: "to maintain the integrity of offshore petroleum and greenhouse gas wells, from design to permanent abandonment, by ensuring that risks to well integrity are reduced to as low as reasonably practicable."
