More than 100 California National Guard soldiers and airmen spent a week at Camp Roberts, California, early this month preparing to respond to the likely next threat to the state - wildfires. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection advisors instructed the Guardsmen on several wildland firefighting subjects, including team organization, safety skills, driver's training, using fire shelters, chopping logs and digging trenches.
