Marine recounts UFO experience walking to base

Synopsis: In February of 1974 at approximately 11:30 p.m., 18-year-old Marine PFC "John" was walking back to the base from R&R in town. Once in and about a quarter-mile past the S3 entrance guard post, he proceeded on a road that cuts through the wooded area of the base and as he continued walking to the barracks, he was suddenly illuminated in a bright green light piercing from above. He looked upward and saw a large, round object hovering above him, slightly higher than the tall fir trees that surrounded him. John: "I stopped walking, looked at my arms that were lit up. I turned my palms up, amazed, I looked up and saw a very large object, maybe 40-50 ft…what I thought was the bottom of a craft." The underside of the object was covered with what appeared to be hundreds of small lights, glowing fluorescent green and he described it as having a "bubble wrap" texture - however, no noise was heard. Next, as waking from a daze, he finds himself continuing walking towards the barracks, yet the shadow he was now casting upon the ground was manifested by the morning's first light. More than five hours were unaccounted for.
