There have been many women involved in Ufology, but I would like to honor three who have made special contributions, but are no longer with us. They are Marjorie Fish, Betty Hill, and Coral Lorenzen. Marjorie was, at the time of our first contact, a third grade school teacher in Oak Harbor, Ohio, and also a member of MENSA. Betty and husband Barney were, of course, for many years the best known abductees because of John Fuller's 1966 book, The Interrupted Journey and the 1975 TV movie, "The UFO Incident" (and in recent years because of Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience by Kathleen Marden and myself). Coral Lorenzen was a co-founder with husband Jim of the Aerial Phenomenon Research Organization (APRO). APRO along with the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomenon (NICAP) were the two major UFO organizations in the 60s. I was working in Pittsburgh for Westinghouse Astronuclear lab and active with the UFO Research Institute of Pittsburgh. I had known Frank Edwards, a journalist in Indianapolis, when working for GM there. I read his book, Flying Saucers - Serious Business, and after moving to Pittsburgh asked Frank for some local media contacts because I wanted to go public about UFOs. One of the names he gave me was the producer of an evening talk show (Contacf) on KDKA, the town's biggest station. I called, gave them some background and was told, "Don't call us, we will call you." They did, weeks later at 6:30 p.m. to see if I would appear at 7 because a guest had cancelled. Fortunately, I lived near the station.
