摘要

Central to the goal of safe operation and maintenance of marine assets is the continued development of technical approaches that provide a better understanding of the precise reliability of the physical asset throughout its life. The complexity of modern integrated marine assets combined with the natural uncertainty of the environments they operate in presents a challenge in quantifying reliability, which may lead to decision makers making errors in judgment at both ends of the conservatism scale. A digital twin offers a means to couple observed data with digital models that assist in diagnosing the current condition and predicting future conditions, providing decision makers with a means to better understand reliability and make more informed decisions about the operation of these assets.
