Norway's history of being a pioneer in arctic conditions starts as early as the initial races to reach the Poles. Equipment used to explore the ocean year-round in these regions has to withstand extreme external strains. Due to Norway's long coast line and cold winter conditions, testing facilities for cold surroundings are natural and familiar.
