Clearly we don't need a chart to show us the deplorable state to which our infrastructure-the once vital underpinnings of our nation's vaunted prosperity-has devolved. We feel it in the seat of our pants, the lead in our drinking water, the fragility of our electric grid, the certainty with which our education system prepares its wards for serfdom, the bridge we pray will support our weight just this one more time. No, it's clear that we take great pride in the recognition that the seeds we've planted and nurtured so carefully by our neglect are coming to fruition.
