Official: It's ZR1!

Our november issue, complete with its C7 cover story, was on the presses when the name Chevrolet will apply to its 650-horsepower, supercharged and intercooled Blue Devil C6 Corvette came in a lightning bolt of inspiration from a conversation with a well-placed source. Super Sport is out for historic reasons: "All Corvettes are Super Sports," Zora-Arkus Duntov said in the 1960s, thus blunting any plans for a Stingray SS.The name Stingray doesn't work, in that it represents a body style and not a performance package. So the Blue Devil's official name is ZR1. Chevrolet will unveil it in January at the Detroit auto show.
