While I was reading "The Blueprint" article in this month's MT, it occurred to me that, for all the similarities we see between cars and the diffusion of technology that occurs, we rarely hear about patent lawsuits. The computer software industry, on the other hand, has been stocking up with frivolous patents to protect the most minor of "innovations," probably the equivalent of patenting a five-spoke wheel. Are automakers really using that different of tech or is it being licensed? Or do they just not bother? Regardless, glad to see the best ideas and technology work their way across the industry to the benefit of all drivers, not just the hypercar elite.
