In 1960,16-year-old Donald Barr decided his hard-earned money was best spent on a subscription to Motor Trend. Fifty-four years, a family, a college degree, a 35-year career as a corporate accountant, and many cars later, the lifelong Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, resident is our longest subscription holder and recently re-upped ahead of his 70th birthday in September. MT: What made you pick up MTin the first place? Back when you're 14,16 years old, everybody's interested in driving and cars and all that kind of thing, so that's where it all started. Started looking at things like Hot Rod Magazine and, naturally, Motor Trend and drifted toward Motor Trend and kinda stayed there. There were millions [of car magazines] back in those days and I probably read a lot of them, but I always returned to Motor Trend. It always seemed to be the better of the choices.
