As I cleared the entrance to the harbor adjoining the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota, Fla., I pushed the throttles to their forward stops and checked my stopwatch. Six seconds later the Meridian 391 Sedan Bridge, equipped with a pair of optional 380-hp Cummins Mer-Cruiser QSB diesels, was on plane and gathering speed rapidly. Sound levels were wonderfully quiet on the bridge, thanks in part to the underwater exhausts and also to the hatch that closed off the opening to the stairs leading down to the cockpit. The stout Venturi windshield that wraps around the front and both sides of the bridge did a marvelous job of forcing the oncoming airstream over my head. Having a conversation on the flybridge of this family cruiser won't require a lot of effort.
