Vehicles designed to operate on alcohol-based fuels have been in production since the late 1990s.Unlike oxygenated fuel blends,where typically 10% alcohol is added (E10),alcohol-based fuels are primarily alcohol with gasoline blended in.E85 is an alcohol-based fuel comprised of 85% ethyl-alcohol with 15% gasoline added. It's important to keep in mind that alcohol-based fuels have higher oxygen content,electrical conductivity,and readily absorb moisture.As a result,they are incredibly corrosive and can accelerate the wear of materials.Typically,conventional fuel delivery system designs have provisions to allow for upward of 10% alcohol content on a regular basis.
