Argentina's 2019 presidential elections witnessed the defeat of the incumbent Mauricio Macro with Alberto Fernandez assuming the presidency in December. Shortly after taking office, the new president introduced an emergency finance bill designed to bolster the country's economy using measures that included an increase in grain export taxes.
