Despite tepid encouragement from the freight markets in March, secondhand bulk carrier prices and sales volumes continued at strong levels. Chinese buyers continue to dominate the market, but joining them are various Greeks and Indian buyers. With contract prices now lower than BSPA 5-year-old values, it is valid to ask how much higher the secondhand S&P market can go unless a significant firming takes place in both newbuilding prices and the freight market.
