Indonesian 4q Exports Top 100 Million Tonnes

End-year data for Indonesia reveal the country's exports topped 100 Mt in a single quarter for the first time (including almost 10 Mt of lignite). This was achieved in spite of reports of one of the wettest Decembers on record and brought the annual volume to 384 Mt, marking a gain of 31 Mt on 2011. Excluding lignite this equates to 347 Mt, which is more than three times the 2004 export total. January trade data from Bank Indonesia, the country's central bank, indicate a strong start to the year (with 35 Mt exported in January) followed by a softer February total (of 26 Mt).
