Vast Rise in PRC's Share of New Ship Completions

Last month, SSY highlighted the vast growth seen in new ship completions in recent years by builders based in China. For all commercial ship types, these totalled 66.4mdwt in 2012. This, although slightly short of the new annual record of 68.0mdwt set in 2011, was still a huge rise from the 2.5mdwt that had been built in China as recently as in 2000.
