Global stock markets continued their volatile journey in October, with falling European markets notably putting pressure on US futures. Uncertainty as to the health of the European, Asian and US economies, plus fears at the spread of Ebola, agitated global markets Yet, against such a backdrop, the BCI picked up momentum, rising from 1,853 points on 1 October to 3,552 points by end-month. Yet this, plus a rising Baltic Dry Index (BDI), had little positive impact from a seller's perspective, as there was still a clear differential between buyers' and sellers' notions of market levels. This being said, some deals ensued, with new ships coming to market and various sales to report.
