After the sharp downturn in secondhand sales seen in May, when reported transactions had fallen from April's 50 deals to just 28, a slight upturn in activity ensued in June, with 34 bulkers sold. This included greater buying of Panamax/Kamsarmax (65-99,999dwt) units, with 12 sales seen, against only 7 in May. Yet selling of Capesizes remained limited, with only 2 such deals emerging. One of these was the "Geosand Max" (176,000dwt, blt 2011, SWS), which was tied up to the Fredriksen-owned "Sea Tankers" at US$27m. Interest in the Kamsarmax sector continued in June and into July, with the sale of the arrested "Miraero Brave" (82,000 dwt, blt 2012, Sungdong) at US$17.7m to clients of Embiricos. That owner evidently also acquired the court-controlled "Daebo Lumut" (81,444dwt, blt 2011, Hyundai) at US$17.25m. The number of inspections for the "United Challenger" (82,254dwt, blt 2008, Tsuneishi) was encouraging, with more than 10 parties inspecting the vessel in Sweden. We understand she was sold to clients of Zihni Shipping at region US$15.9m. Having been in the market for over a year, the sisters "Qi Shan" & "Shou Shan" (80,000 dwt, blt 2010/2011 Fujian Crown) were acquired by clients of Dynacom for US$22.5m "en bloc."
