The new Argentine president Mauricio Macri has moved quickly to deliver on his campaign platform to reform the country's export tax regime for agricultural commodities. On 14 December Macri announced the export taxes on wheat and corn, currently 23% and 20%, would be removed with media reports suggesting an announcement on ending export quotas for the two grains is imminent. Argentina is expected to export around 6 Mt of wheat and 18 Mt of corn in 2015. Significantly, however, export taxes on soyabeans and soya meal are to be cut by only 5%, to 30% and 27% respectively, which will together account for 37-38 Mt of Argentina's grain exports this year.
