A Change of lifestyle - An airline pilot's perspective. Dave Thomas, once a red arrow and then a colleague of editor Nigel describes how lockdown has truly brought him down to earth for the time being. It is early March 2020 and my professional life is busy. I'm a full-time pilot within a large holiday airline. Additionally, I have a training role and the airline's training schedule is in full swing. It's the busiest training plan to date. All the simulator training for my aircraft type is in Gatwick and I'm based at Manchester Airport. At home, within Cheshire, I have a wife and family of 2 young boys. Time away from home is regular due to my work commitments. We are all busy.
