DB and Siemens seek new approvals approach

DB and Siemens have identified the need to work together more closely in designing, developing and building new trains and that they both need to work more closely with German rail safety body the EBA to avoid the major approval problems seen in recent months. These have delayed approval for new trains and there have been well documented problems with existing trains (some of which are Siemens-built, eg the ICEs and Berlin S-Bahn trains).rnAt a recent press event Dr Volker Kefer, DB Board member for Technology and Infrastructure, talked about the forthcoming IC-X order for IC and ICE-1 replacement, for which Siemens is the preferred bidder.
