DB Schenker has accepted a new fleet of 12 wagons from Nottinghamshire-based manufacturer W. H. Davis to be used on rail freight services for Tarmac, the UK's largest quarrying company. With a 75-tonne payload, the wagons have a body that is placed much higher than conventional bottom discharge wagons. This enables the aggregate to be discharged onto a mobile conveyor system for unloading into areas with limited space. The wagons have been built using stainless steel which will extend the life of the vehicle given the harsh treatment that will come from loads that will include marine dredged aggregates.
