The c2c line linking London and Southend is a short but busy commuter route. It is only 40 miles from Fenchurch Street to the terminus at Shoeburyness via Basildon (it is 46 miles via the Tilbury loop). On this compact network we run 354 trains a day. The c2c rolling stock fleet is heavily utilised, with 71 units out of the fleet of 74x4-car Class 357s used every weekday. On the stretch between Barking and Fenchurch Street in the morning peak we push through 20 trains in the hour between 08.00 and 09.00.
