Interface flooring's reusable, recyclable systems paid for themselvesby endinglift truck damage to containers. Reusable, recyclable plastic con-tainers provided a welcome solution for handling yarn at Interface Flooring Systems, one of the world's largest commercial carpet manufacturers. The company has integrated 1,000 of these containers into its materials handling operation at its West Point, Georgia facility, where 17 million 1b of yarn are handled every year. In addition, it continues to add 10 units per month, replacing the corrugated containers formerly utilized at the plant. The payback period for the new system, says Don Ellison, warehousing manager, "was less than six months."
