One of america's favorite snacks is potato chips. Crunchy potato chips. Lose the crunch and what do you have? A problem.rnKettle Foods, makers of all-natural potato chips, had a problem with air circulation in its Beloit, Wise., facility. Even though it achieved a Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building's Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), there was room for improvement. Stagnant air, uneven temperatures and poor circulation were affecting the freshness of the food products and affecting workers' comfort. Freestanding fans were placed in the packaging and warehouse areas, but the fans created wind and weren't big enough to move enough air around the large space to equalize the temperature.
