Pediatric clinical trials are, in principle, nondifferent from adult trials in the potentialnfor establishing the benefits of new drugntherapies for a population at risk from a plentitudenof diseases and conditions, manynunique to a particular age group. Butnbeyond the similar potential for benefits, thenproblem of implementation isnvery different—a host ofnunique ethical, regulatory,nand scientific considerationsnarise in the testing of infants,nchildren, and adolescents.
