摘要

Free convection heat transfer due to the twin action of radiation and transverse magnetic field is studied for an incompressible viscous electrically conducting Boussinesq fluid past an infinite vertical wall invoking the slip boundary condition. To derive the solutions to the governing equations we first linearize the coupled differential equations by seeking asymptotic series expansions about a small parameter ε (ε for incompressible slow flows is 1). The linear differential equations together with appropriate boundary conditions are now integrated numerically using a backward time centered space (BTCS) finite difference scheme, using uniform grid spacings in both directions. Velocity and temperature profiles are discussed graphically together with the rate of heat transfer. The effects of the slip velocity, and the radiation parameter on the velocity and temperature profiles as well as the rate of heat transfer are discussed quantitatively. Finally, the results are compared with other results reported in the literature and we observe very good agreement.
