Council halts leisure cash

Sevenoaks DC is poised to halt financial support to the operator of its leisure facilities, which are grappling with a seven-figure budget deficit.Not-for-profit Sencio Community Leisure currently operates three leisure facilities and a golf course under lease agreements with the council.Sencio, which has been hit hard financially by COVID-19 restrictions, has received more than £750,000 of public money to keep it afloat but faces a budget shortfall of £2m, including a pre-COVID trading deficit.However, a recommendation will be tabled at a meeting of Sevenoaks' Cabinet not to approve further financial support.
