Council leadership now views communications as a frontline service, with a permanent seat at the top table, the annual survey of communications staff by Panacea Software and LGcomms found. Nearly all (87%) said the status of communications in their organisation was higher now than it has ever been. Ofsted has announced that focused children's social care visits will restart. Councils due an inspection will be given notice from next week. Ofsted will consult with directors of children's services about whether their inspection will be delivered remotely, onsite or whether it will use a blend of the two approaches. Medway Council will continue to run its own children's services after its independent commissioner was stood down due to good progress on improvement.
