Community resilience: preventing the breakdown

A prescient community resilience study carried out before COVID-19 struck explored a range of extreme events. These included climate change-related flooding, economic shocks like Brexit - and even pandemics. But one of the study's collaborators, public health expert Dr Tony Robertson warns the lessons learned are mostly being ignored in the current political discussion around coronavirus, leading to a risk of community breakdown. The series of 2019 workshops making up the cross-disciplinary project were part of Sterling University's Extremes in Science and Society programme funded by Scotland's National Centre for Resilience.
