Wigan leisure centres set to come in-house

Wigan MBC is to bring its leisure centres in-house in a bid to safeguard jobs following the impact of COVID-19 restrictions. The charity Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles has provided leisure services in Wigan since 2003, including leisure centres, country parks and outdoor education. However, the sector has been hit hard by enforced closures due to coronavirus restrictions during the past year. The council will undertake a consultation with staff ahead of transferring existing services.
