Auditors slam Croydon for 'corporate blindness'

Croydon LBC has been accused of 'corporate blindness' by external auditors in a public interest report on the council's finances. Grant Thornton took the step of issuing the report after it found concerns highlighted in previous audit recommendations had not been acted upon. It said the council had 'unsustainably low' level of reserves and that investments had 'exposed the council and future generations of taxpayers to significant financial risk'.
