Together with lots of clip art, campaigning tips and mock leaflets, the pack included briefings on Labour's approach on all the main policy areas. It was, though I say it myself, a thoroughly professional piece of work. Or so I thought. A few days after the pack was sent out, I was summoned to the office of the Labour Party's director of communications - who at that time was someone called Peter Mandelson. 'Ah Robert,' he said, in his ineffably smooth manner. 'That pack of yours. I am afraid you are going to have pulp part of it.'
