Veolia has won a new 25-year PFI deal with Southwark LBC, which aims to get a 50% recycling rate in the London borough by 2021. The contract includes a state-of-the-art waste site on the Old Kent Road. The facility will boast an education centre to teach chi-ildren the benefits of recycling. 'This move underlines our capacity to win major PFI contracts in the UK, where new regulations focus on recycling and the reduction of landfilling,' said Veolia chief executive Denis Gasquet.
