Norfolk CC has called on the Government to pick up a £401,000 funding shortfall for the resettlement of 50 Syrian refugees in the county. A report to be considered by the county's policy and resources committee next week said the cost to the council of resettling the refugees would exceed £1.4m over seven years. The report added the Government's basic funding offer would only reach £1.026m for the 50 refugees Norfolk had agreed it could support. Council leader Cllr Cliff Jordan said: 'There are still negotiations going on, but the Government has asked us to do this so it should pay.'
