North Yorkshire is the largest county in England, with 85% of its landscape classed as 'super-sparse' - with just 76 people per square mile compared with the national average of 430. While that may make for a beautifully picturesque place, it presents its own pressures for North Yorkshire CC when it comes to delivering local services. From transport to jobs, digital connectivity to rural schools, the council faces a range of challenges that come with the geography on top of the economic, financial and demographic pressures being shared by the whole of local government.
