Brighton and Hove city councillors have dropped plans for a referendum-triggering 4.75% council tax rise and opted instead for a compromise agreement. Proposals by the ruling Green Party administration were ditched following a second council meeting on 5 March, after councillors backed an alternative deal with a 1.99% rise.
