We all get job satisfaction in different ways. As a local authority chief executive, the satisfaction that comes from running a big organisation, full of hard-working, creative people, cannot be divorced from the satisfaction that comes from seeing the wider borough that we work to serve, succeed.In Stockport, we're lucky to have great place leaders - from constructive politics in the council chamber to collaborative businesses coming together to create the Totally Stockport business improvement district.To provide leadership of place, we all must step outside the comfort zone of organisational self-interest, and be confident that in sharing our experience and agreeing common objectives we form a stronger, more effective team. There are many challenges we simply cannot address on our own.
