Concerns rise over outsourcing of services to Virgin Care

Concerns are growing about the use of the private sector for a £700m contract to deliver health and social care services to more than 200,000 people in south-west England. The contract, awarded by Bath and North East Somerset Council and the local CCG to Virgin Care, has led to claims that key public services are being subject to privatisation. The contract is worth £70m a year for seven years and cover adult social care and children' services, and includes an option to extend it by another three years at the same cost.
