Airport windfall for 10 councils

Greater Manchester's 10 councils will receive a portion of a £60m dividend for being shareholders in the owner of the region's airport, it has been announced. Nine of the councils will each get £3m while the largest shareholder, Manchester City Council, will net £33m. Revenues for Manchester Airports Group, which announced its financial figures for the year up to 31 March last week, rose 10% from £671.2m to £738.4m while underlying pre-tax profits were up 17% from £241.9m to £283.6m.
