House building a key priority after GMCA fund announced

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is set to launch a £300m fund next month to help encourage more house building. The Greater Manchester Housing Fund has been created as part of the 'Northern Powerhouse' devolution agenda and will be formally launched at an event on 2 July. The fund will offer loans to developers and it is estimated the £300m could be used two and a half times over the fund's lifetime, delivering a total development value of £1.5bn. Details of the fund, including what type of will qualify will be an next month. The Authority's chie investment officer, Bill Enevoldson, said the scheme will help 'get vital schemes started'. 'We are already talking to developers and two projects are currently at the due diligence stage, but we want to talk to a lot more,' said Mr Enovoldson.
