Merging management teams would save councils £3m a year

Two district councils in East Sussex are looking to integrate senior management teams and frontline services in a bid to save almost £3m a year. Members of Eastbourne BC and Lewes DC have received copies of an outline business case, which looks at the benefits of either integrating staff and services at both councils or just integrating the senior management team only. A report went before Lewes DCs cabinet last week and will go before Eastbourne BC later this month. The Lewes report said full integration would save both councils £2.9m within four years of bringing the services together.
