Airport group restructures in build-up to expansion

The local authorities behind Manchester Airport Group (MAG) have agreed in principle to restructure ownership of the organisation as it prepares for expansion. The group, which is owned by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA), announced last week it was looking at buying an additional airport and bringing in private investors to help raise the capital. At present, Manchester City Council owns 55% of the group, while the nine other authorities each have a 5% stake. All members of AGMA have now agreed to look at changing this arrangement to make way for new investors and the group will simultaneously start inviting bids from interested parties.
