Care spend for adults falls 1.9%

Spending on adult social care has fallen for the third year running, according to the latest survey of town hall bosses. The Association of Directors of Adult Social Service's (ADASS) fifth annual budget survey reported total spending in adult social care will decrease by a further 1.9% in 2014-15 to £13.68bn. The local government organisation said this is the third year of continuing cash reductions and the fifth year of 'real terms' reductions. The number of eligible adults receiving social care services decreased by 5.8% over 2013/14, with the biggest change among old people.
