When the worlds of local government and country music collide, there can be only one victor - and right now it's looking like country music. Stetson-wearing Garth Brooks has been clashing swords (or possibly spurs) with Dublin City Council over plans to play a series of open-air concerts in the Republic of Ireland later this month. Irish country fans rejoiced when Brooks announced he was playing five shows at Croke Park, however his plans were thrown into disarray after the city council only granted permission for three shows. But the local authority sadly underestimated the singer's resolve and he declared that it was five shows or nothing. In true cowboy fashion, the council and Brooks' people have been locked in heated negotiations ever since, trying to find a way out of the Last Chance Saloon.
